Silence helps to re-engage with the poetry of life, to notice and become more aware. It also helps to dust the mirror of our soul and to grow closer to our essence and core. When we enter into silence, we enter a bit into the Unknown. We will not know what happens, there may be times when we find the way and other times when we get lost; times we bask in the light and times we suffer in the shadow. Often, spending some time in silence helps to bring us closer to who we really are and connects us more deeply with Spirit.
As part of Group Relations International, René organizes a yearly silent retreat at the edge of the Pacific Ocean in Point Reyes National Seashore in Northern California. For more information, please contact René.

I have been and still am a seeker,
but I have ceased to question stars and books;
I have begun to listen
to the teaching my blood whispers to me.
~ Hermann Hesse
What is your blood whispering to you? What life discoveries and choices are you making? How are you connected to something bigger than yourself – the More? Do you wonder about the meaning of your life? These are all aspects of our spiritual journey. This journey is unique and often very private.
In these four days we gather with a group of people who are contemplating similar questions and who are willing to engage with each other around these themes. We do this through exercises, experiences, reflection, sharing, silence and rituals. We create and hold space for ourselves and each other with the intention to focus on our spiritual journey. We trust that in this process our experience is the outcome, in other words, that whatever we experience is what we need in this part of our journey.
The dates of our meetings are spread out so that people can do their own work in between meeting dates and so that this process really becomes a journey.
This experience is open for people who have a desire to engage with their own and others’ sense of spirituality. It does not matter where you are in your spiritual journey, as long as you are open to the process of exploration in a group setting. Spirituality is often filled with not-knowing and knowing at the same time, with experiences that are not easily captured in words, with lots of questions. It is okay to bring all of that, as it is okay to bring the certainty that there is More than there is and to fully engage with that More. Together we enrich each other’s individual spiritual journeys.
René Molenkamp – Spirituality has been part of my life for a long time. Earlier on in life I chose to be a Jesuit priest. What I appreciated about this experience is that I learned much about spirituality and my own spiritual journey. Silence became an intricate part of the journey, and in that silence I was invited to direct other people in their journeys. Eventually I left the priesthood because it felt that the rules of religion were in the way of living spiritually. More recently I have embarked on the journey of becoming a shamanic practitioner and I work with energy. They way I look at spirituality is that all of us have our unique connections with the More. Spirituality is like a river, the life giving force that streams through many very different countries/religions/people. How does the river influence me and how I live? What relationship do I have with the river?
Practical – The fee for the workshop is $390. Limited scholarships are available. If you are interested in being part of this Spiritual Journey, simply send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please describe why you want to participate - just to make sure that all are more or less on the same page in terms of expectations. Ideally, there will be between 8-12 participants who will be present for all four Saturdays. The workshop will be held at Marinavillage, 1936 Quiveria Way, San Diego, CA 92109. Additional details will be provided prior to the workshop.
This workshop is designed to help people discover their spirituality, their connection to something bigger than themselves, what I like to call the More. Through conversations with fellow participants, reflective exercises, rituals and ceremonies, participants will discover their own unique way of being connected to the More. If you are interested in potentially attending this workshop, please send René an email.
